[They patiently wait for Tamamori to finish... whatever it is he's doing. He's trying to use the technology, though, so. Maybe he's learning??]
And it is not possible for me to physically enter the tablets or phones.
[Any other explanation or additional information would probably be disregarded, they think, so they have adapted to keep things as simple as possible for those who are unfamiliar with this level of technology.]
It looks very nearly the same, how is it not the same?
[Florence has the patience of a saint. A metal one. Tamamori learning the technology may be a good thing, but I guess we'll find out later this week. Hm.]
Ah! I forget how it works, but can you telepathically enter tablets and phones?
[That is probably the wrong word. Tamamori is waving his hands excitedly when he leans away from the camera at any point so you can probably see that he's holding: A. A familiar piece of note paper and B. A pair of worry frog socks. Extremely important. But not important enough for him not to be distracted by iFlorence.]
[He seems deeply confused by this, actually. I don't think he's discovered Estelltube yet, but rest assured it will be Noticeable when he does. Ergo, he hasn't figured out a lot of functions or has immediately forgotten them.]
It's almost like telepathy, but electric... machine-based... Ah. [luckily before Florence can be compared further to the occult or possibly become a one-robot cult, Tamamori remembers his actual message; or a response to a message, as it were] Right! You know, I'm grateful for all the books, but I can't read any of them? Are you volunteering to read them all aloud, Florel?
Wait, so does that mean you're less powerful than these device things?
[He has too much imagination, always, but also size indicators in general are confusing. Does Florence lose to phone tablets? Tablet phones? Tablet tablets?? When will Florence run DOOM???
Tamamori pouts a little; it's offscreen so you can principally see it in his eyebrow(s), but it goes away soon enough.]
--No, wait, wait wait wait, what do you mean translation? This is just a camera and stuff...
[They will not confirm or deny that they are less powerful than a tablet.
And we can see if Florence runs DOOM whenever someone tries to install it on them!!]
The tablets have several functions. One of them enables the translation of text. It is not an elegant solution, but it is easier than learning the language or translating all available text by hand. Did you not realize this?
[He would make a really terrible interrogator. He is not even close to the Hashihime you want for such things; but possibly you don't want the Hashihime for such things.]
I just thought, of course, that everyone was speaking Japanese very fluently, or that we were supposed to force other people to read everything out loud. It seemed a little roundabout, but this is much better than learning all the languages. [not that the audio translation makes any sense, actually, hm] Are you telling me that we are actually speaking all the languages of the world, and our ears are now mutant ears?!
[It's probably a good thing this isn't a murdergame.]
Visual and auditory processing for languages have similarities in brain activation but are different enough that guaranteeing you could process both at a high level would have been incredibly invasive, as well as difficult with what we have available to us at this point in time. Understanding speech seemed more practical than prioritizing reading, and it was much easier to add adaptive translation to the tablets.
[can't believe i'm reading articles to doublecheck my knowledge on brain activity]
Stop, stop, stop! I can understand that you're doing something to brains, but mine is going to implode if you keep talking like I'm a fellow robot, and moreover I don't really want to know if someone's been poking around in there in some weird way! I don't!
[Tamamori is doing his level best to prevent brain overactivity, thanks. I, Fyre, continue to appreciate this in-depth knowledge as he flails.]
... Mm, but if I could have robot glasses that could translate everything, how convenient that would be...

[You can't get on Estelltube with the phonebooth!]
That is a fair comparison to make, even if it is not something that would technically fall under the umbrella of "extrasensory perception".
[It's not supernatural! But they do notice the things in his hands, and maybe it's jumping to conclusions, but...]
I see you have received the note I left for you regarding the books.

[Tamamori does have quite the imagination…]
I don’t have the time to read that many books.
[They have A Job! And that’s a lot of books! But more importantly…]
Have you not figured out how to use your tablet for translation?

[So can you blame them...!]
I do not know if such a thing would be feasible at this time, even if it does seem practical.
